Paulo Bellinati is recognized as one of Brazil's top contemporary guitarists. He has recorded and performed with many important Brazilian musicians including the Pau Brasil Group, Gal Costa, Leila Pinheiro, Chico Buarque, and Edu Lobo. He won Brazil's equivalent of a Grammy, the 1994 Premio Sharp, for arranging the selections of Gal Costa's CD "O Dorriso do Gato de Alice."
Paulo Bellinati's original compositions are often inspired by the rich tradition of Brazilian musical styles including Lundu, Modinha, Schottisch, Bolero, Soresta, Maxixe, Baiao, Marcatu, Frevo and Xaxado. Using modern compositional techniques and harmonies to enhance traditional forms and styles, Bellinati has created a contemporary approach to Brazilian folklore.
Paulo's recordings and printed music are published and distributed worldwide by Guitar Solo Publications (all available on this website). His arrangements and compositions have been recorded and performed by many contemporary guitarists including: John Williams, The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Quaternaglia, Badi Assad, The Assad Duo, Cristina Azuma, The Strano Sisters, Shinichi Fukuda, Timothy Kain, Eduardo Isaac, Ricardo Cobo, and Carlos Barbosa-Lima.
